Applications for Summer 2009 are coming soon!
Membership MSTA provides a host of activities throughout the summer for
you and your family to enjoy: participation on the McLean Marlins
swim team for children ages 6-18 (competes in the Northern
Virginia Swim League); a tennis team for children and adults
(competes in the Tyson’s Cup League); group and private
lessons for swimming and tennis; weekly tennis clinics; tennis
camps and sports camps; a playground and volleyball net; social
activities for both adults and children; a snack bar facility as
well as gas grills and picnic tables for member use; and provision
for pool rental for private, after-hour parties. The pool opens
Memorial Day weekend and closes Labor Day.
Permanent Memberships: MSTA usually has 20-30 permanent memberships that become available
each year. A permanent membership entitles all family members
living in the residence of record to unlimited use of the
facilities during the summer season of operation as well as access
to the tennis courts year-round. Individual guest passes ($3/person
on weekdays; $4/person on weekends) or booklets of passes may be
purchased at the front desk for visiting friends or extended family
members. Grandchildren (and their parents) who are visiting briefly
from outside the local area may use the pool without a guest pass.
Permanent members own a refundable equity share in the association
and are entitled to voting privileges regarding association issues
as well as serving on the Board of Directors.
The cost of a 2009 permanent membership at MSTA is still being
determined. The fees for 2008 were the following:

A $25.00 non-refundable application fee (payable to MSTA) is required with your
application. Memberships are offered in the order applications are received, so
it is important to return your application promptly. If a membership is offered,
full payment of all fees and dues must be received within 10 days to hold the
membership space. If a membership is not offered by May 31 in the year that you
apply, a limited number of permanent memberships will be offered again starting
in August. If a membership is not available for the year that you apply, your
name will automatically be put on a wait list for the next year.
Summer Rental
Memberships:
MSTA usually has only 15-20 summer rental memberships that become available each
year when permanent members will be away for the summer season. A summer rental
includes use of all club facilities, including participation in social
activities, for one full season (Memorial Day to Labor Day) for all family
members living in the residence of record. Renters are not voting members of the
association and do not have membership equity in MSTA. Rental memberships are
offered to families on a wait list after all permanent memberships are sold. The
number of rental memberships available each year varies, and having a rental
membership for any one year does not guarantee a rental membership in future
years. If you are interested in being on the wait list for a summer rental
membership, you will need to complete the

Rental memberships are offered in the order applications are received.
Applicants will be notified if space becomes available and will have 10 days to
remit payment in order to have the space held. The cost of a summer rental
membership is $670.
Sale of
Membership:
Members wishing to sell their membership can download and complete the
Membership Sale Request Form
and mail it to MSTA Membership, P.O. Box 391, McLean, VA 22101. All sale
requests must be in writing − either using this
form or in a letter. Refund of any membership equity fee will be made
subject to resale of the membership and in the order that sale requests are
received. Please enclose your membership certificate with your sale request.
